Reading

readd

Reading is imperative to their success in school as it opens the doors of the curriculum, whilst improving communication and language skills. Therefore reading time is a valuable time, which is fun and imaginative for children opening doors to all kinds of new worlds for them.

In Year 1 and 2, the use of reading buddies where children can support their learning, understanding and application of phonic skills is a daily occurrence.  Here not only do the children get to thoroughly enjoy the reading experience, but they also are able to discuss the material they are reading with each other.

In the older year groups, children are encouraged to do independent reading and this can occur both inside and outside the classroom.  The children then love to share with their peers the plot of the book and their opinions.

Reading is a fabulous time, where we get to interact with the material, advancing our knowledge but also communicating with our peers! What fun!
